i just bout the ascend 2 for straight talk now i have been reading on the numorous forums and have tried almost every option to root this phone. and i seem to think that all the update and downgrade options i have tried are for cricket ascend 2 is there a solution to this? do i need stock 2.3.3 firmware for straight talk please somebody help befor my phone gets thrown away

p.s
i make it to step of of unpacking and it says error verifcation failed

have you tried the SDK/Super One Click method? if not, download both programs, open SDK and let it run in the background, then open Super One Click, plug your phone in and hit root... after that, download super user su from the market (i like it in conjunction with the regular su app), and su update fixer.

if the above works, you will also need to flash the correct Clockwork Mod(there is a guide for this in the main forum, the version of ROM Manager that you can download from the market does not support the Ascend 2 for some reason:idk: ) in order to flash custom ROMs...

hope this helps...

what do you mean by open sdk? do you mean open from command line? I have been trying to root this phone for a while and none of the many methods I have tried are succeeding.

I've found that most of us having the sig. verification failure message are StraightTalk customers, as am I... and in recovery mode, there's no option on our specific ROMs to turn the verification off... have seen all over the place that one needs to downgrade to 2.3.3, but there does not seem to be a stock for StraightTalk... I'm not on Cricket, as most folks seem to be, and no one seems to have a good answer for this... ????!!!!

Maybe I'm blind or just braindead...
