Rooting or Partioning Galaxy Ace

Hello

My wife has a Galaxy Ace (not sure what version of Andriod it is).

She has only got a couple of apps and have followed all the other tips of clearing cache and moving apps from phone to SD using appmanager but still getting internal memory full.

Lots of people talking about rooting or partioning the SD card. I am fairly tech savvy but a bit nervous as I don't want to screw the phone up and get the nagging!

Should I root the phone or partion the SD card or both? Advice or help please.

Ed

There is no question of 'or' here, you need both if you want to increase your internal memory. Simply rooting will not increase the memory and without root, partitioning your sd card is pointless.

You need to root first and then partition your card and employ an sd-ext method of your choice.

OK that helps me a bit as was a bit confused. Is there an "easy" way to do this as some of the posts seem to get a bit into IT programming talking about scripts and the like.

Any help appreciated.

Ed

I don't know which posts you are talking about, but being tech savvy it should not be a problem at all. There is no need for you to tinker with the script but you will need to get it in your android system, otherwise your phone will not know what to do with the partition that you create on your card, its the most crucial component buddy.

Hi Ed, rooting is standard procedure for those who want more from ace although it voids the warranty. And is almost without risk, but not risk free. Try this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476121. dont forget http before
In xda there are other methods, use the one that will be more comfortable
