Help Rooting RCA 10 Viking Pro RCT6303W87DK

Hello, I have tried every app and way that I have found online to root my tablet, with exception of hooking to desktop. I ended up asking my my neighbor (he's way more android literate than myself) his answer was "no,have never been able, but I've turned a few into bricks trying". I'm pretty sure that turning my tablet into a brick is not a good thing so I stopped right there. Does anyone have any suggestions on rooting this tablet without killing it? The one thing I have not tried is using a desktop simply because I don't understand all the "Android lingo" in explaining the steps. Even if someone has simple, step by step instructions on using a desktop I would really appreciate it. I have Windows 10 on desktop and RCA 10 viking pro tablet model #RCT6303W87DK running Android 5.0. Thanks, Linda
