That articles really got nothing to do with rooting. That's about unlocking the phone to take of to different carriers.

Rooting has been entirely legal for the past several years. With that being said, the carrier can let whoever and whatever they want on their network. Youre signing the contract/agreeing with the tos agreeing to their terms

You still agree to the TOS by using Boost. You're "signing" the contract by using the service. The whole no contract thing really just means that there aren't contract terms or early termination fees -- you can walk whenever you want.

Boost can still set the TOS however the want, really. Even though rooting is legal, Boost can cancel your service for it and there's not a lot you can do.
