tried to root my phone using this method

now phone will only boot to a red android and

sorry can you elaborate on that a little this is my first time trying to root not sure if you mean I have to recover and go back or load another file

When rooting a device a recovery helps you to get back into working order . your root doesn't have a recovery it say it in the write up . now your saved this time cause it required you to download Odin .what u need to do is flash a recovery IMG through Odin give me a second I will post the method to get you working

Now I just have to figure out how to root the phone that was my original plan

The device is rooted just download a root checker from the play store and see if your rooted following the direction please make backup.
