Router IP address

I have set up three routers on my house to extend my range. Is there a way I can look at my phone and determine which router I am connected to. All three have the same SSID and the same password. I have installed WI-FI analyzer from farproc. It shows all 3 there, but I don't see a way to tell which one it is connected to right then.

Thanks
Ron

Hi ronjcar.:)

I think the folks in here in the Computers and IT forum will be better suited to help you out with that question.

WiFi analyzer will identify the AP's by Mac address and hardware model. If you look closely, I have my router and an additional access point using the name "gorillanet" and the IP displayed at the top is the phone.

Make sure you stagger the channels, too. You don't want them all on the same channel.

So your phone is connected to the channel 6 router. How can you force your phone to connect to the channel 11 one to test it?

Also, Can you force it to connect to one router over the other one? How does it choose which router to connect to?

You can't choose without disabling the other routers. The whole idea of multiple access points on a network is for seamless data connections. If the signal of the closer access point is stronger the device will use it exclusively. But if they are close enough in strength both will be accessed since they are both on the same subnet. If you want to use one or the other but never both you need to set different SSID s with different passphrase. If you do that there will be disruptions in connectivity when you jump from one to the other.
