RUH ROH-- is the Chromecast line-of-sight? :-(

So I have ordered a Chromecast and am dutifully waiting for it to ship-- but I just realized-- "Where ARE my TV's HDMI ports???" I just found them on the backside of the 42" flat-screen... which makes me worry that a Chromecast is line-of-sight. I really, really, really doubt that, since everything seems to be running over Wi-Fi... just checking...
Thanks for any clarification!

It gets a wifi signal from router. Doesnt matter where it is on the tv. Mine is in the back of my tv also. Only thing you have to worry about is clearence from a wall if tv is wall mounted.

Google needs to create an extension of some kind. Most HDMI is in the back of the TV where you are often too close to the wall or wall mounting unit - and more often, have a ton of cords. All of which interfere with the signal.

Okay, I'm all good then, it's not wall-mounted. And it's 6 feet from my router. <Bill & Ted voice> Party on, excellent... Thanks for verifying!

it comes with a little(and I do mean little) extension. it is like an inch long. just long enough to bend it downward to be parallel against the wall I suppose.

Yep, it uses WiFi and doesn't require line of site as infrared would. However a strong WiFi signal is still important.

A longer extension cable would be helpful. I had almost no signal with Chromecast wedged between my wall-mounted TV and wall. A better location for me was to plug it into the HDMI port on my receiver/amplifier which has the benefit of also utilizing my surround speakers. This setup does require you to run all devices through your amp and then out to the TV. Note: I used the extender for a little extra room to bring the Chromecast from the back of the amp to rest on top of the receiver. I now receive 2 or 3 bars of signal which is just enough to operate. I agree that a longer extension would be helpful.

my chromecast is in the bedroom and the cable modem/wireless router is in the living room. they are seperated by 2 plumbing walls and the AC unit with all its ducts. according to the wifi strength graph the signal is weak but playback is perfectly smooth. I have mine on the back of the tv as well, using the included very short extension to let clear the wall.
