Rumored Play update

I've also heard about the update that was rumored. And I actually hope to see it happen to the play store because I think it needs an update. Especially when it comes to recommending the apps that don't have as much attention as the leading apps out there. It will be better to discover different apps out there. The UI is very good as it is, but if they can find a way to make it better then I am always up for a change to make something a little bit better. As for updates, this is a good thing, as I do like to have all my apps updates by themselves, unlike iOS where I have to manually update apps all the time, it seriously get's annoying.

I prefer manual updates. I like to see, ahead of time, what is being updated and read reviews to make sure it actually still works. Not all updates are useful either, sometimes a new feature is a step backwards.
Hopefully it will not be the default.

I hope that Play learns to use a "tree" format.
List all launchers at the top, then the skins underneath. If the skin fits more than one, asterisk it.

Learn the difference between Astronomy and Astrology.

If I search for a wild flower ID app, that doesn't mean a screen or theme.

I prefer manual updates. The phone will explain what's new, the tablet doesn't. Sometimes even using the PC to check won't tell you. I have stuff I won't update. I don't like the "improvements"

I've had to ask twice lately. Once was ImageShrink and "broken exif" and the other about online permissions for another app. I needed to make sure the app would still work where you had no data connection. I received timely answers from both.

Just found another rumored update, and if this is true, I don't think too many users here will be happy. Can we prevent the store from updating?

There's no way I'm allowing a few apps to update!

Why did they make it uglier? When they say it is set to auto update apps by default, I take it to mean you will have to go into options to turn it off. Too many people are on limited data plans to force everyone to update all their apps automatically. If they do try to force that I think there will be a huge backlash.

I have data turned off, but WiFi on, so updayes will happen over Wifi. I only use mobile daya for emails (occasionally) and QUidco to check in and get the 5/10p each time. So I get paid for visiting stores that I go to a few times a week, you'd be surprised how quickly the pence mount up.

The other part of the rumor also said Play will no longer list whatever new stuff or fix the upgrade will install. I don't like installing and don't need to install just to add another language I don't use, a feature I don't want, etc. If the update fixes a true bug, or improvement, then I do want it.

For example - I like Quickweather. You can get the Weather Underground maps.
The dev changed it so Quickweather links to the forecast first and the maps are elsewhere. I want the maps first and not the forecast, so I won't update it.

If Google cuts out the permissions required - how many here would install anyway?

That would be a big step backward. I have a lot of apps that I don't update as well. Many times the updates make things worse.

No info. Just ad blurbs to make you drool. I don't watch videos. Either have to switch to Iron or figure out what to enable in FX.

For the people using a phone it can be a bad thing to force apps to automatically update while on mobile data. Data is limited, and updating will take a toll on peoples data. But there must be somehow you can disable this.
