Android Question

Hello,
I am wanting to learn Android app development so I'm still learning how to get setup. On my Windows 7 laptop computer I can run Android Studio but when I try to start the AVD I receive an error: "ERROR: x86 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration!". I followed the instructions I found here to try to resolve this. I installed the HAXM installer in the SDK Manager. However I cannot install "intelhaxm-android.exe" as I receive an error similar to Intel Virtualization not supported. I also get an error when running dism.exe indicating Hyper-V is not a recognized component. Lastly, in my BIOS I have no option for enabling virtualization. So from my beginners view it appears I cannot use Android Studio on my laptop.
So instead of having to get a newer laptop (that supports virtualization) I was wondering can I run AS remotely from a hosted server (e.g. DigitalOcean VPS) and do the development that way?? Anyone done this before? Is this a good idea or someone have another suggestion?
Thanks in advance,
Jason
