Run Tracking Apps Not Working

I've been trying some of the run tracking apps (such as RunKeeper, My Tracks, Endomondo, etc) but none of them are working correctly.

When I'm using My Tracks it'll find my location when I push "My Location" (so the GPS must be working) but when I start the recorder it doesn't record anything other than the time. When I'm using RunKeeper and Endomondo it won't even find the GPS signal.

Phone specs:
HTC Inspire 4G
CyanogenMod 7

I just recently rooted and flashed my phone but that's not the problem because the run tracking apps didn't work even with the stock ROM.

Is there anything that I can do to make them work?

Hi ShadowsDemise,

I use CardioTrainer without any problems. Perhaps give this APP a go. I tried a couple of the other APPS you mentioned but found them quite fail compared to CT.
Give CardioTrainer a go and see if it works for you.

Cheers,
Sombre.

I downloaded CardioTrainer and went on a walk to test it out and it kind of worked. It said it couldn't find a GPS signal but it was keeping track of distance.

The only problem was that it would only keep track of distance when my phone was out of my pocket so when I put my phone in my pocket and took it out a minute later it would be at the same distance as when I put it in my pocket. It would start keeping track of distance after I took it back out of my pocket but I don't want to have to hold my phone the whole time.

My HTC DHD works in my pocket and continues to receive a GPS signal. I'm thinking perhaps your phone has a poor GPS receiver. I know, for example, the Nokia N95 (I know, hardly worth mentioning) has an absolutely useless GPS receiver, so wouldn't surprise me if other phones use a poor quality GPS receiver. Apart from that I don't have any other suggestions, sorry I couldn't have been more help to you.

Cheers,
Sombre.

You helped out a lot by recommending the CardioTrainer app so thank you! :)

I hope it's not my phone's GPS receiver because I'll have the phone for two years lol
