Running home page search bar searches NOT in Chrome

After the last update to Android 8 on my Zenfone 3 Zoom I'm missing a feature I've always really liked in Android. That was the separate Google Chrome and searching from the Android search bar on my home page, each with their own history. Now all the searches I conduct in the search bar open in Chrome and I can't switch back and forth between the two. I really miss the separate function and I wonder if there is a way to get it back?

I can see that happening only if you were using two separate browsers (ie) Yahoo and Chrome. By that being said if you had Chrome search bar widget on one home screen and Yahoo search bar widget on another you will have to two separate search going on. Or having a third party app like Puffin on one and Google on the other I can see that happening. But if you just have Chrome on your device and no other you cannot separate the searches because most likely Chrome would be your default browser for all searches you make on the device. But you can reset your device up as I just explained by have different browser widgets running from different locations.

I'm on about my 4th Android smart phone and on all of them, including this one till most recent update, the searches from my home page search bar did NOT run in Chrome or any other web browser, they ran separately. If I wanted, I could go to thru top right menu in any results web page I clicked on from home page search bar searching and select "open in Chrome." If I didn't do that, the search results stayed separate from my Chrome history and I could toggle between them. This was helpful especially for any situation where I wanted to find more info. about a page in Chrome or in a search result without wiping out either one. Now the search results always open in Chrome, overwriting the last web page I was on in Chrome. It 's especially inconvenient to me as I refuse to use Facebook app and only run it in Chrome. Now, any additional info. I want to search for about something I'm seeing on FB wipes out my present place in FB.

I'm on Android 10 now (on a Google Pixel 3a) and this feature I like so much is back. Yay, very handy to still have my Chrome location and history untouched when I check out search results. If I do want to see a particular search result I've landed on in Chrome, I can just go to the top right menu and pick "Open in Chrome."
