Help Running out of space?

Athiss

Lurker
So I recently got a 32 Gb Micro SD card for my Android SGH-T399 phone yesterday, and after using this forum/other sites, I've been moving files onto it.
And example of how:
http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2014/06/install-android-apps-sd-card-default/ (not the exact link, but it is how I did it).

After I did that with several apps, my internal phone storage kept shrinking. First it said 2.97GB left, then after I switched apps/files/pictures onto the SD, it dropped it 1.23Gb left.

EDIT: When I go to my storage page it reads the following
System Storage: 6.58Gb/8.00Gb
SD Card: 153 Mb/29.81 Gb
So is there anything on the SD card? When I go to my files, I can't locate any of the apps my phone said it did put on there.

Any suggestions?

I think your apps have been saved to SD card (sometimes internal memory is called this) and not EXT SD card

Unfortunately Android treats ext SD Cards as read only. You can by rooting your device and using one of a few apps restore the write to SD card function but that will not cure your problems. What files go where on installation is down to how the program is compiled so unless the developer includes the option to us SD card storage you will have the same issues.
In other words, AFAIK, there is no real solution.

You can use the device's file manager to move things like photos as the device's file manager would have the necessary permissions. You can't do this for apps though as they would not function properly

I just use mine for music. I still have Jelly Bean on my tablet, it was so much better.

I have a Android SGH-T399 (galaxy light) So I guess my final questions are: 1) What can/can't be stored on my SD 2) If I root my phone/look around online/here, could I set my SD to default storage for all?

You quoted a link to an article which suggested swapping device IDs so ext SD card could be used but if you refer to the comments people have run in to a lot of problems. Take a look for an app called Total Commander, it has sort of a workaround but not for apps
