rythmbox in statusbar of ubuntu

im running 12.04 ubuntu and i have rythmbox in my statusbar. does anyone know how to change it to vlc? so when i click on the sound icon it shows my volume and then the music controls but instead of rythmbox it shows vlc. i looked on google a little but i couldnt find anything.

Sorry, I haven't ever tried to do anything like that. I don't tend to use the notification controls.... Hopefully someone else has some help, but maybe some VLC forums might now how, or the ubuntu forums. But I'm sure your searching would have found those results as well.......

i just want that to be my volume. It annoys me when I accidentally double click on some audio and it brings up RB. I then exit the full application only to find, thats not enough. Its still playing in the notification area. ARGGHH. Go away!

^ I do that all the time. And one of those apps doesn't quit with the x, you have to go through the menu and hit Quit or Ctrl Q.... (I think that's banshee though ??)
