S 3 warm/almost hot

RRTX

Some days ago my S 3 would get warm, almost hot. Lately, it is warm but does not seem near as warm or hot as some days ago. I think it was getting warmer/hot when it had Android 3.xxxx. about two weeks ago 4.0.4 (Jellybean) was installed automatically. Not sure if the upgrade had anything to do with the cooler device. I had not owned my S III long enough to be able to compare 3.0 with 4.0. I am happy with the S 3 in general. I add, my prior smartphone was not an Android so I have no field of reference.

s3 never had 3.0, this is honeycomb and is only for tablets...
4.0.4 is ICS not JB, JB is coming soon though

i also notice my s3 getting very warm/hot quickly. the iphone never gets hot. I knew i shouldve avoided a samsung phone, and coming from a motorola droid, i am regretting getting the s3

My S3 is the same. It's not a regular thing, but sometimes it does get warm. Noticed it in particular when just using it on battery and playing a game for 5-10 mins.

I've stopped using the case for it now because I've read some reviews which mention there is sometimes damage caused by the extra heat.
It doesn't get warm when charging - USB or mains - but only sometimes when in use, like I say mostly games. Angry Birds mostly!!

I use mine pretty heavily and it's never gotten warm or hot. The only time I notice a temperature change is the back panel gets warmer from the contact with my hands.

Mine never even got warm -- then suddenly Friday afternoon, while I was listening to MP3s on it, they started to skip. When I picked up the phone, it was hot! Not warm, hot! I turned off the phone, disassembled it (removing the battery and SD card). When it all cooled down, I reassembled it, and then, it couldn't read the SD card. It had trashed the filesystem on the SD card!

After buying and inserting a new SD card, I then noticed that it would not play videos or MP3s anymore. Any attempt resulted in an error message about thumbnails being corrupted.

Since ICS will NOT let you actually mount the filesystem in a useful way, even though I saw the directory name of the corrupted thumbnails, I had no way to remove them.

So, if your phone is suddenly getting very warm, this could be happening to you.

Mine gets warm on occasion. I have never been sure exactly why it does sometimes and other times it stays completely cool. It will also get warm if using Google Navigation and plugged into a car charger, then so did my GS and GS2.

Man, that sucks. The only time my phone got close to hot is when I was using the GPS with Google Nav. I had it on for about 45min in a hot day and I was heading to a new area. When I realize how hot it was, I quickly shut the Nav and GPS off and the phone cooled back down. A phone is still a phone, can't really replace a dedicated GPS unit.
