Accessories S-Pen design flaw

Note 8 is three months old. I noticed an obvious design flaw on day one. The ratchet on the new S-pen.

Sure enough, mine failed a few days ago. Very hard to remove it when the phone is in a heavy duty case. I use my S-Pen almost every time I use the phone.

These fancy pens are expensive. UKGP 30. I had already bought a spare on day 3 when I realised the design flaw. I don't want to do this every three months.

Comment?

Temptation is to glue one 'open'. With my UAG case it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you referring to the spring mechanism that makes that you click to eject the pen?

I'm not sure what OP means by "ratchet", either. I can only think of the little clicky thing. But I'm going into Month 5 with this device, I use the S Pen a lot, and I even click the S Pen just to click it for stress relief or something. I have no idea how it would even break.

"ratchet"?

My daughter takes mine out without clicking all the time.

Easy enough without a heavy duty UAG case on, I agree. I'm not taking the case off nor replacing it. It does the business as far as I am concerned. The phone got dropped today onto paving. Completely protected.

Yeah. I'd hate for mine to fail. I pretty much reach for the pen as I pick up the phone...every time.

Me too. Every time. Same with my last Note. It's how I unlock it.

I'll get it replaced when the phone goes to have the dead pixel dealt with.

Under 3 months and I expected it to fail too. I now think It's the internal spring. I should think lifetime should be 12 months given the construction. So I was unlucky. Stupid design. Rule #1 don't use any moving parts. You are just asking for failure. Not if, but when.
