Hey when ever i say something to S-voice and I ask it to search the web. I get taken to "google Custom search" and for some reason I cant change it . Its not like it on the normal web browser only with s-voice. any help please thanks. And the google "custom search" comes up with some pretty crappy results no matter what I type. The problem might be down to an AD I clicked saying I had two battery updates. An application downloaded called "battery optimizer" or something along those line's however I did not install the application. I ran a few "free" anti-virus scans and all came back clear. Any suggestions?? Thanks

I'm guessing that battery ad was pushed to your notification bar so it seemed like an android notification warning you that you needed to 'upgrade' your battery. If so, it was done so by an app using an Airpush plugin. Download Addons Detector, and it will find which app was responsible, and you can uninstall it.

Hi I have tried the app you told me to install but came up clear. But I have since done a factory reset obviously the device so I'm thinking it must be something to do with my Google account. Also I have installed a few applications from 4shared.com and other sites so this could be the problem also. Any more suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Is it normal? I was beginning to question it was normal but then I thought why not just use the normal Google which gets much better results. Is there anyway to change it to "normal" Google?? Thanks

I hate google custom search, there's hardly any options available on screen. Anyone figured out how to direct the onboard applications to search via regular google search site? Is it some kind of default in application manager?

It sounds like your browser (or hosts file if you're rooted) got hijacked; Google Custom Search is for other web sites to design custom search engines.

Most Android anti-virus programs are ineffective; the only effective free one is avast! ( cf. AV-TEST - The Independent IT-Security Institute: Android )

I use TrustGo and Lookout ad detectors every time I install an app (but before I run it) and after updates.

If your browser got hijacked, uninstalling and reinstalling it may restore its settings (just don't restore its data/settings).
