S10 Screen On/Off Question

I'm getting acquainted with my new S10 that replaced the S6 I've had for several years. While I like the fact that when I pick up the S10 while it is lying flat on my desk with the screen off and seeing the screen come on ready for action, I don't like tapping the power button to turn off the screen and slipping the phone into my shirt pocket (where I normally carry it) only to have the screen come on again. I don't want to walk around with light coming from my pocket! What settings or controls manage when and why the screen turns on and off? When I used to turn off the S6 screen it stayed off until I explicitly did something to turn it on again.

The "lift to wake" option is what is turning the phone back on, that was one of the first things I shut off after getting my S10+.
Go to settings and search for Lift to Wake and switch it off. I use the Nova Launcher and with it you can set a double tap to lock the phone, this way I never touch the power button.

Thanks, larrykay. It's under Settings, Advanced features, Motions and gestures. I turned off Lift to wake but kept Double tap to wake up turned on.

I've discovered a simple lock feature for the S10 that avoids pressing the power button. Just activate the SoftKey Edge panel. Then at any time, swipe the Edge Panel toward the center of the screen and tap the Lock icon.
