S21 sensors (e.g. barometer) draining battery

I hooked up my S21 5G (not plus or ultra) to a usb cable so I could watch the log messages. The main problem is about every 1 to 3 seconds (2-3 last night 1 second now) it decides to read the barometer and write the pressure to the log. The secondary problem, possibly related, is if I touch the screen the touch sensors are active and write info to the log. That happens in my pocket too (with the USB attached).

Is there any way to turn off those sensors, particularly since I don't use any fingerprint, face recognition, etc. I click the power button, swipe, and type my PIN. The fingerprint and face recognition worked fine when I tested them. But I switched back to swipe hoping that would turn off the sensors. I need those sensors off when the screen is off either when I hit the power button, or after the inactivity timer.

I can't imagine either issue being a large battery drain. I have the Ultra and it's battery life is simply outstanding. With that said, I haven't a clue how you might disable the barometer sensor or govern how often it's active. Perhaps it can be disabled.. I've not looked. As for the active touch screen, you might try unticking the wake up with a double tap. Being as you don't use the feature it might make the touch sensor inactive while the screen is off.

Thanks, that setting seems to be under "Always On Display". My "Always On Display" button was off and grayed out. The gray text said "Turn off power saving mode..." I did, then I was able to turn on "Always On Display". That would apparently allow double tap. Then I turned AOD off. Then I turned power saving back on. Down 7% in 3 hours without using the phone other than a few minutes checking those settings, with the phone resting on the table. The phone seems to burn power sporadically, I've seen it go down 4% an hour in my pocket. Resting on the table is not as bad for the battery.

Interestingly when I first got the phone the power management was very good. Then it declined dramatically somewhere along the line. I loaded a few apps but the power decline happens after rebooting and no apps running. I also stuck in a SIM from Mint mobile. I loaded their app too but deleted it in case that was problematic.

Good news update: down 9% in 8 hours from 7% in 3 hours. I think that charging through the USB cable permitted different behavior like the pressure sensor being read often. The phone has been sitting on the table other than to pick it up and check the battery level. The non-contact thermometer says it is 0.5F warmer than the iPhone which is also sitting on the table. The iPhone is my benchmark for battery conservation. It's possible that turning "always on" on and back off and then rebooting might have helped.

To confirm there are no excessive pressure readings, I'll have to hook up and look at the old logs ...

No barometric pressure readings in the log at all from 15:26 yesterday to 07:55 this morning. No screen or whatever pressure (e.g. activate pressure) Battery down to 89% after 16 hours resting on the table. The log is mostly updating stats of various sorts. Looks ok. I'll have it in my pocket for an hour or two at a time today.

The biggest battery drain recently has been incessant mobile network selection activity. Obviously selecting a mobile network every 10 milliseconds all day long is not useful. However I live in a dead zone and that particular battery drain problem may be unique.

I make wifi calls and having wifi and wifi calling turned on (although not making or receiving any calls) may drain battery. I partly solved the problem by selecting 3G only under connections -> mobile networks. I still see sporadic battery use with no phone phone use (or any other use. I have all apps except calendar set to deep sleep (app "will only work when you open them")

I just downloaded the March 1 update. Hoping it will help.
