S3 battery source

I'm looking for a replacement battery for an aging S3 still running on its original battery (EB-L-1G6LLZ - I think LZ at end indicates Verizon so any two letters at end are probably okay). Quite a few listed on Amazon but reviews give lots of horror stories about fake imitations, some with Note 7-like explosion experiences and photos. Samsung website does not list this battery, just a smaller one for S3 Mini, so it looks like Samsung has discontinued the S3 battery, as one vendor on Amazon says in their item description.

Does anybody have a good vendor they can recommend for genuine Samsung batteries, or failing that, a known source of high quality safe batteries from another manufacturer?

When you're shopping around keep in mind if you use NFC for anything, with S3's the NFC circuitry is in the battery, not the body of the phone. S3 OEM batteries will have that NFC support, some third-party batteries do not.

Thanks, guys. I've had other products from Anker and have been quite satisfied. Am aware of the NFC being in the battery, but thanks for mentioning it -- could helps somebody else stumbling upon this thread.

This is kind of off-topic but since you're going to have the back cover off to replace your battery, if you haven't done so in a while it's a good time to snug up the screws holding your S3 together (ten of them, Philips #0). After a few years one or more of them might have become a little loose.

You might also want to re-seat your microSD and SIM cards (if you have one or both).

Good suggestion. I've had to do this this a couple of times over the years when the GPS system would start to misread my location.
