S3 doesn't like my video files. Conversion tips?

I tried avi, mp4, vgg. It wouldn't accept any of these.

Maybe my videos need to reformatted a different way? The S3 can handle 720p so can videos be in this format?

Will I need to pay for a video converter? Any capable free ones?

Thank you

Is this playing on the Samsung video player? I've been able to play avi and mp4 without any problems on stock video player. I haven't run into any issues yet regarding resolution/size. I used to use an app called Moboplayer that could process larger files a bit more easily on my old incredible. Maybe you could give that a try?
As far as converters, I used to use Handbrake to convert to MP4 before I found Moboplayer, which can play avi

Your stock player should support your formats. I use full avi rips from my own dvd's to watch later connected to a tv and they work fine. mp4's work fine too. Are you using any certain program to rip your vids?

The stock player has been able to play a ton of different codecs and containers that I've thrown at it. Are you talking about when you transfer the video files to the phone, it says it is the wrong format? If so, just completely ignore that and move the file anyway. Then just find it in the stock player and it should be able to play it. Hopefully that works for you!

Thank you! You're absolutely right. Windows 7 was telling me the format was not-compatible with my phone. I ignored it and everything is working great.

It would still be good to know how guys are formatting their videos to get the best out of this phone.
