this is a updated re-post from yesterday as unfortunately i had no responses but since i have done some research and testing which may help explain the problems, i have just brought a galaxy s3 (its factory unlocked and i am running it on vodafone network in uk)
Its a great phone but unfortunately i have a few problems i need help solving please.
When i connect the phone to my laptop, and click on "My Computer", it shows up under "Portable Devices" as "GT-I9300", i then click on this. As i have put in my 8gb memory card from my old xperia x10, i have a choice to click on either external card (my sd card) or internal memory which is named sd card also.
When the 8gb memory card is in the galaxy s3 the file format is "Generic hierarchical" and when it is plugged into a memory card reader or put back in my old phone it is FAT32 (**When it is FAT32 the below problems are not present, the problem is only present when the card shows as "Generic hierarchical" which is in the Galaxy s3**), so my question is, is there any way to change this format either through the phone settings or pc software?
Anyway my problems are (due to Generic hierarchical format)- when i am on the pc and open vids/music from the sd card or internal phone memory a windows tab comes up and says "copying to c/users....", so i cannot open any content without it first copying to my pc even if the file is on the pc.
And when i try to edit any songs for example the title or album name, it does not let me edit them, it is as if they are saved in that way and cannot be changed. It also shows most songs as 0kbs on the pc.
My last question is - how do you safely remove the phone once you have sent over media as there is no safely remove device icon shown in the bottom right windows start menu when i need disconnect this, however when i remove the phone windows makes the sound to show something has been removed. When i first plugged the phone into the pc it did say "device software is ready to use- succesfully installed"
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
