S3 Play Store & home Hub access problem

Prelude:

My S3 and home BTHub3 938P (Wifi) will not talk to one another but Wifi from in the Vodafone shop all seems fine.

At home S3 tries to get through, but gets into a repeating loop is: Scanning, Connecting, Authenticating, Saved, Secured...

and repeat. Without any finite result to indicate connected

...From a zero distance

Part 1.

Until recently I have been able to touch the play store icon on my s3 mini and access my apps... heck, I even downloaded/accessed Facebook last month!

Now (and Heaven knows what's happened), several rabbit-holes later, I am being prompted to "Add a Google account" new or existing.

To try and cut short, following a visit to my Voda shop I've had to do a factory reset (yesterday). I can add my 2 gmail addresses , which are now in my "Email" (NOT gmail) icon. They are both synched in the setting/email thing too.

Part 2.

Why would Play Store prompt for my google account, when it didn't before (from a 40m distance from Hub) ? Is there something in the settings I need to alter... which would be odd, because I didn't have to before.

Part 3.

The Play Store (equivalent app) works on Wife's iPhone works perfectly, as does general wireless Internet access on laptop, TV & PC

Does this suggest a problem with my S3, Vodafone connection, or the BT Hub? Or a combo?

If anyone else has suffered similarly, and sorted them out, I'd love to hear from you ;)

Thanks
