Help s3 screen size

Hi im looking at doctoring some pics for my s3 but what is the screen size i need to work to in pixels etc? i see that some wallpapers are 1280x1440 res but if i use this for pixels the proportions look wrong - most likley me being thick..

ive also got scrolling wallpaper intalled is it possible to get this to center with the home button as the home screns do and not be out of sync?

A scrolling wallpaper is 1440x1280. A static one is 720x1280
