Help S3 wont connect to carrier.

SushiKdot

Lurker
I recently bought a new s3 off craigslist locked to telus to use on koodo. After unlocking it and everything I had it working up until this morning then all of a sudden it just stopped. Since then it's been reading emergency call only. I've tried my brothers rogers and bells sim and they both work straight away but koodo no luck. I also went to the samsung store to try my sim card in their phones and it worked fine. I asked what I should do and they were basically useless and sent me away with not suggestions.

Pull reset, changed APN, manually selected network(reads unable to connect, try later), I even got a new sim card and still not luck.

Any help?

Any luck with this?
I wonder if we bought it off the same guy. I'm having the exact same issue.
I also get an error message that says "ME returned a temporary error" when I boot it up. The more I'm reading through the forums, the more I suspect the device was stolen and the imei ended up being black listed.

I would think if it was black listed the other sim cards wouldnt work as well. where are you from?

I'm liking littleSaigon's theory. I would think it is the IMEI that gets blacklisted.

I had a phone destroyed because it got run-over. I was able to take my SIM card to another phone. I think the combination of SIM settings and IMEI provide credentials for accessing a carrier's network, not the IMEI alone, nor the SIM alone.

Anyway, yeah, why not ask the Carrier if the IMEI is blacklisted?
