S5 and Smartwatch

I have a samsung galaxy s5 and just purchased a U8 smartwatch and getting a APK exception message when connecting. I think it has to do with the version of Android but not sure if there is a solution, I can connect the bluetooth between my phone and watch and can make and receive calls but the notifications aren't working
