Help S5 Bluetooth not auto-connecting

I have a BT hands free system built in to my car stereo. My previous phone would automatically connect when I was in the car, however the S5 doesn't. I have to go into the BT phone settings and tap it to connect. Pairing is not the problem - the BT device list shows that the car deck is paired. Is there another setting that I need to enable? I'm not seeing anything in the BT settings section. TIA

I don't think there is a setting, I seem to remember people complaining about this with the S3.

There is a free app in the play store called "Bluetoooth Auto Connect" that will automatically connect to a given device when bluetooth on the phone is turned on. Here it is:

What you could do is put an NFC tag in the car somewhere and use an app like trigger (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jwsoft.nfcactionlauncher) to turn on bluetooth and then let one of the apps above connect to the car..

This is timely, in a way.
I have just posted a question regarding the same problem with my new S5 vs. the old S2 which used to connect automatically.
I'll have to go a and see what this app can do.

Make sure to remove the original phone from the radio. I have issues after my wife has been in my truck and had her phone linked to bluetooth. I had to manually connect untill i removed her phone from the radio.

Did that and it did not make any difference.

PROBLEM SOLVED:

Using the voice commands at the steering wheel of the car to pair the S5 (Lollipop) will definitely keep the phone BT "automatic re-connection" (recognized automatically).

Note: I found this trick elsewhere -- not my original idea.
