S5 contact list edit question

LDB415

Yesterday I went through my contact list and deleted a ton of contacts that have been migrating forward since a few phones ago. Today they are all back. How can I permanently delete them?

sounds like you have your phone number linked to a host which also has a contact list.
That host(s) is merely syncing your phone's "short list" to make it agree with the "old list"

Make sure you have unregistered or deleted all of your other contact lists.

When I first registered my phone, it came up with 3 contact lists on it. The S5 is a super smart phone and it found contact lists in places that I did not know even had a copy of my contacts. This created me a LOT OF PROBLEMS because I would create a new contact, and then it "disappeared" from my phone.

So where did it go? I had to go to gmail on the web, Google+ and delete that contact list.

Then I had to go to Yahoo and delete that Contact list. The S5 was trying to merge all 500+ of my Email Contacts into a phone list !@#$%^&
That did not set well with me.

I finally unregistered my cellphone's email accounts totally. Went to the web and made darn sure all was cleaned up.
go here => Settings/Accounts and delete all of them

Then I registered the phone again to 'gmail' so that it would work correctly with Play Store.

After that, the extra contact lists no longer show up on my phone.

I then was able to re-establish the other Accounts as needed so that my other apps would work correctly.

There are 4 accounts now on my phone.
Verizon Cloud - has a contacts backup app called Backup Assistant
Evernote
Samsung Account
google

But...... there is only one (1) Contact List for phone numbers and that is the one on the phone.
