Help S5 'preferred' Wifi re-connect issue

Newbie
For a couple of weeks now, my S5 won't re-connect upon arriving back home to my preferred home network (I have 3). It used to not be an issue, but lately it's very annoying. The preferred network operates on 5Ghz band, the other two are 2.4Ghz. I haven't found a way to designate a default/preferred network. Can this be done in the native OS or go the app route? Could there be an underlying stability issue related to 5G band?

So far, I have not had that problem.

I just reviewed my WiFi information on my phone and don't see a way to determine how it connects to the network. Maybe I would if I deleted my WiFi connection and then allowed it to scan and reconnect.

My router also has 2.4 and 5 gHz bands, but I don't see it noted on the S5 menu as to which one it has hooked up to.

With what I can see with the Native Apps on the S5 there is no way to force it to specify a preferred network.

I just brought up WiFi Overview 360
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.android.wifiscanner

which is in my bag of WiFi tools and this screenshot depicts my network connection.

It shows the Main channel as secured, a guest channel which is currently open, but that is going to change "real fast now". I don't like bandwidth hogs.

and something I have never seen before, a "portthru" connection available and it says that is "open". Need to investigate that further.

The app is telling me that Channels 1, 2, 3 on the 2.4 gHz band are the best ones to use. but I note I am on channel 11... think I will be changing that also.

See the attached screenshots.

I see that WiFi Overview 360 has a "Toggle WLANs" option. Maybe that would help you?

Thanks for the info. Took a look at that app, don't understand why it would 'need' access to files and call info? Will hold off based on this.
