S5 suddenly broken

Believe it or not, I have another problem. After I took some pictures with the S5, I plugged the phone into the pc. It said it wasn't charging. Ok, fine, just use the mtp to transfer the pictures. Then it showed the charging lightning bolt. Then it showed a yellow no battery symbol. I tried plugging and replugging, both there and with the original charger. I keep getting the same thing. At least at first it seemed to be rebooting, showing the Samsung screen. Then it stopped doing that. I don't know what I could have done wrong, beyond letting the cord get unplugged from the phone while I was carrying it to the pc. PLEASE help! Please tell me I didn't waste $80 on a used phone.

I'm not in the habit of adding insult to injury but you did post ( Used Phone) right?...

After trying what @mikedt suggested and if it didn't fix the issue, try clearing your device cache partition and reboot it and see if that helped it any.

I just busted a new cord out of the package, using a knife (A PAIN IN THE NECK), and tried it, with the same result. I don't know what could have gone wrong because I just used it about one hour earlier to post here. I will try another USB port, but another pc is not an option. How do I safely remove a Bluetooth adapter?

Well, I took out the Bluetooth adapter and plugged in the S5 with the new cord. It's still the same thing. I don't understand why it seemed to be working fine until this morning and now I can't even boot up the thing. I probably can't do anything with partitions and caches right now. Is there at least a way I can salvage the gallery?

I was thinking maybe it would help if I could take off the case, but I don't know how. It's some kind of specialty item, I guess. I don't want to damage anything. It says rNin or something that way sideways in gold on black. The edges are hot pink. Is there anyone on here who is familiar with that type of case and would know how to proceed? Unfortunately, I cannot provide pictures of it, for obvious reasons.
P. S. For a moment I thought I might be making progress. I held down the on switch and the main Samsung screen came on, and then it beeped and went off again. Rinse and repeat. Could it be a bootloop? Alas, when I plugged it in it was the same old thing: a white lightning bolt soon followed by a gray background with a yellow triangle and a black battery having a broken black line through it.

Until you get the case off, there's probably not much you can do.

I've had issues with various cases keeping buttons partially depressed, causing all kinds of issues.

Good luck.

Thanks, but HOW do I open it? As I said, I don't want to risk wrecking anything. It would be great if I could find some kind of special tools for opening it.

Guess what. No, I didn't fix it but I did get hold of another phone to take pictures and show you what I mean. Also, I would like to know if it's possible somehow to get the gallery transferred to another phone or computer. If it is, how do I do that?

I forgot to take pictures of the back of the phone. Well, here they are. I hope that helps with diagnostics.
