I'm trying to setup Tasker to do essentially silence my phone between the hours of 10PM and 8AM with exceptions for when certain people text or call (for when I'm on call for work or for family members who I know won't call or text unless it's important.
I started with a profile called Night that has a time setting. Then I created a task called Silent. The task sets all the volume levels to 0.
Then I have two profiles for ringer exception (one includes work when I'm on call). So the profile has an Event Edit, Phone Ringing and then I add people from my contacts to the list. When these people call it performs the task of raising the volume to max for ringer and notifications. Then I set it to wait 5 minutes and then lower the volume back down to 0.
I also have a text exception profile that does the same thing (well, used to).
When I first created these it was on an EVO LTE which had the ringer and notifcations volume tied together. Which is the reason I started using Tasker to begin with. Now that I'm on a Galaxy S5 (non root and don't want to) they are separate again.
If I have Tasker setting the volume to 0 it doesn't want to raise it at all. If I set it to 1 it will raise it but then almost immediately drop by it back down. I don't understand why it's doing this. If I setup Tasker to wait a few seconds and raise the volume to max again (essentially telling it to this twice a few seconds apart) it seems to work. Then I have it wait 5 minutes, lower the volume to 0, wait 5 seconds and do that again as well. That seems to work.
Now, for text messages, I can't get it to work at all. I set it up the same way as the ringer one except focusing on the notification volume of course but it still won't work. Does anyone have any suggetions?
