Help S5a ATT Marshmallow?

Live in Chicago area. ATT updated my son's S5 to 6.0 1.5 months ago. I have S5a and it says 'software up to date' when I still have 5.0 lollipop. What gives?

Do you have the same model number SM-G900A, AT&T variant S5?
Do you have a active AT&T sim card or are you using your phone with a different carrier?
