S6 Gimmicks

Call them gimmicks, special features, or TouchWiz tweaks, whatever. I'd like to know what they are. My wife is needing a new phone in the near future. She has an aging S3 and likes that her phone and tablet (Galaxy Tab 8.1) both work roughly the same. Heck, they both came with the same default background.:p

I understand there will be differences for her coming from an S3 to an S6 beyond hardware refresh. I come from the AOSP line of things and don't (haven't) used a manufacturer skinned rom myself.

Anyway, I'd like to get her a new phone and at the same time keep harmony at home.;) I need to know what are the neat features of the S6 (or even ones from the S5 that will carry forward) as I'll be the one doing tech support or helping her with them when they don't do what she expects.

They didn't really talk much about new features, other than those on the Edge variant. Mainly because they wanted to talk about all the gimmicky features they removed.

The camera has a pro mode, things like battery saver should be there, but things like smart stay have been removed. Samsung Pay which should work on 90% of registers.
 
Oh dear Lord, they are also bundling McAfee software! I've never used their Android app, but if it's as good as their Windows stuff then removing that would be a good reason to root straight away.

And Clean Master??

I wonder how far back into the stone age Samsung just pushed every new user who trusts their brand name.

This is good stuff - there's a lot to like - not their bloat - especially "Clean Master" which is a real PITA. Since I'm not a root guy - I just might go with the M9. Thanks Samsung!
