S6 suggenly stops charging -states incompatable

Love phone - but suddenly it (even with Samaung fast charge) states charger is incompatible. - other times it charges. When charged it does turn on - and last night I got it to 71% before it decided the charger (Samsung) was incompatible.

Has anyone seen this and can you help please?

Oh forgot - sometimes the battery charging indicator (picture) comes on but stays at zero. Other times nothing -

Have you tried a different cable? It could be a dodgy connection or a short from a damaged cable (including internal damage, which you can't see).

(I'm hoping it's something like that, since it's the cheapest and simplest thing to fix).
