S6 Wifi issue

Rhys Jones

Lurker
Hi,
My S6 WiFi keeps on jumping from the main BT Hub4 network to BTWiFi -with-FON which doesnt work!

Occasionally it will switch off the WiFi altogether??

Any ideas please?

Sounds like a signal strength problem. To stop it jumping to a FON connection long press the wifi tile in quick settings (from the notification drawer) and then long tap the offending FON network and "forget it".

As for the disconnecting Wi-Fi. Try resetting the router by turning it off for a good two minutes, re booting it and reconnecting with the phone. There used to be a hidden menu on older Galaxy devices to increase the Wi-Fi sensitivity but I can't get that too work on my S6 edge. Also one last point, a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi connection has a greater range than a 5.0Ghz connection.

I've found the service menu for you.

Dial *#0011# into the phone keypad, go to more (from the three dots - top right) and click on Wi-Fi you can disable Wi-Fi power saving (and re-enable it) there.

It should give you better Wi-Fi reception, but will slurp battery. A trade off.
