S6edge android 7.0

Hi , complete newbie here , while not new to technology I have a niggling issue with android 7.0 . (nougat ) based in UK on EE with Galaxy S6 edge .

Upon swiping to open the software there is a small rectangle box at the very bottom ,white with black borders and within the box is wifi / roku / TV . and a power icon ( the one with the circle and line in the middle )when I click on one it brings up a remote control . While this might be handy for some its a nuisance to see this box every time I open the phone .

What is is ?
Can I disable it ?

swiping to open the OS . I will post a photo later as this is my sons device and not here .

It may be a widget on the home screen that you can remove by long- pressing it and choose "remove"....
It will then remove this widget off the home screen only.
The application will still be accessable from the app drawer if needed

Here is a picture of the screen and I cant remove this as if it was a widget .
It is only present on the lock screen but want it gone .
Any ideas ?

Disable this .
