S7 Edge keeps on freezing

Hi everyone,
a couple of days ago my phone suddenly started to freeze like crazy. It crashes like 10 times per day since then. No matter what I do with it. Either it just freezes and you can't use the keys or display anymore and it gets quite hot if you don't force it to reboot. Or it just reboots itself. Quite often after you reboot it, it crashes again within a minute.
I have no clue what the problem is and I don't want to reset it because I just bought it like 2 months ago and it took me ages to set everything up.

Any ideas?

I would install a launcher, like Nova Launcher Prime.

Set up your home pages like you want them. Nova will copy everything you already have in one fell swoop if you allow it to. That is what I did.

Are all of your contacts listed as 'Google' rather than as 'phone' ? if they are, easy to start over.

1. On Nova Settings, choose Backup and save your homescreens, and export them to your email address. I do this once a month and keep them in a folder so they are easy to find
Nova Launcher Prime - Android Apps on Google Play

2. the app Super Backup/Restore will help you backup your apps, contacts, and SMS
I do this also as a backup to Nova homescreens. explore all the options with this app, it has a lot and be sure you have the backups somewhere besides on the phone. Say like on the extSDcard, that is usually a safe place.
Super Backup : SMS & Contacts - Android Apps on Google Play

Now, after all of the backups have been safely taken care of, do the FDR or Factory Data Reset.

restore you phone's appearance in reverse order of the above.

2. restore all of the apps, make sure everything is on the phone, go to play.google.com and check 'My apps' and wait until everything has settled down.

1. now that the apps are safely back on the phone, find the most recent Nova homescreens backup and just click on it. in about 15 seconds you phone will be just like it was before.

Caveat: some data in each app may be lost... small price to pay to get the phone working like it was before though.

i have a similar concern and have been suffering with it for several months. I called the Concierge service to fix it. They changed the mother board and battery but the problem continued. the phone would reboot every now and then. i could not be in calls for long as the phone would reboot. My apps reset themselves on their own and at one time the phone did a factory reset on its own. When i took it to the Samsung store, they mentioned that the problem was with the SD card and asked me to remove it. But i need the SD card and why should the phone not function with the SD card when it has been provisioned in the design. They kept the phone for a week under observation and had no issues. i asked them to use the phone as a user would. install apps, play with the video and then come back. they kept it under observation and claim there is no problem. Either i am lying or Samsung does not want to own up that the Samsung S7 mobile phone has a problem and they dont want to accept it. My phone is under warranty and i can not use the phone. i dont know what to do.

the SD card you had very well may have had some issues, that is why they wanted you to take it out.
then you use the phone for a few days w/o the SD card.

if the problem goes away, buy a new quality SD card and get on with life.

The phone was designed to use an SD card, and it does. But the problem most likely was you had a faulty SD card. This would affect the phone a lot, especially if you have apps moved to the card. You can't blame Samsung for a faulty SD card. Unless the card was a Samsung brand, but then you also have to factor in the state/age of the card. Plus with the abundance of fake cards on the market, there are a lot on considerations to be taken.

^^^ what he said backs up what I said.... the SD card is bad, and you most likely have some apps "moved to it" which IMO is a very bad idea in the first place.. just for this reason, it makes a good phone act like it is broken, when the card is what is bad.

The SD card truly was the problem. I removed it a few days ago and ever since it didn't freeze at all.
I used a 128GB card from Samsung that came with my phone. So I would assume that the card should work properly and it did the first 3 months before it started causing trouble.

The problem with SD cards is that they're pretty unstable IMO. You can't be sure when they'll fail, and it's dependent on several factors, including what it went through in shipping (extreme heat/cold?), even the age of the card. If it came with the phone, you can ask your supplier about warranty. The phone usually doesn't come with a card out of the box.
