S7 edge or wait for S8 or note 8

I like so many are stuck in the middle of a quandary. I preorderes the N7. It got recalled. Preorder cancelled. Then phone I wanted was on back order. Now N7 is no more. Do I go and get a s7 edge or wait it out with my N4 and see if they get it figured out and get the N8 (if they don't discontinue) or S8? Rumor has it Samsung may release 5 phones next yr and one may have folding screen tech

Moved to the Note 7 forum. :)

If you're a big fan of the Note series waiting for the Note 8 might be best, if not and the S7 Edge has the features you need you could go that direction.

I would expect the Note 8 to, at minimum, include a hybrid microUSB/UFS slot. Eventually I can see flagships moving exclusively to UFS slots... but expandable storage is an absolute MUST.

Still holding on to my N7 until Sammy officially issues a global recall. Someone on here posted about Verizon giving their subscribers the option to continue using their N7s. That's a good sign.

I am really, really nervous about this BGR article:

http://bgr.com/2016/10/12/galaxy-note-8-rumors/

While I rarely give any credibility to BGR, the article makes too much sense in that Samsung feels that the Note 7 double recall has so profoundly and fundamentally damaged the Note's image that they may actually kill off the line.

That would break my heart into millions of tiny pieces. I LOVE the Note (we all do), and it would grieve me to see the whole line die a miserable death over this.

What a mess up Samsung, first wait for the new Note 7 since my contract was up and get rid of my old Samsung S5 and do the Verizon contract for the new Note 7 then I have to return it a big pain to get the fixed model and set that up, then now I have to return that model also since they will brick it on you very soon, all Note 7 I heard will be shut off so you better return it and find something else. I'm upset because now I'm moving into a new S7 Edge but under contract for two years and that is not what I waited for or wanted. I going back to Verizon and will definitely complain when the new Note 8 comes out I want an upgrade and not have to be penalized for early return. I keep my phones two years and then upgrade.....so Samsung better make this right or I never buying a Samsung thing again, I have TV's, Stereo's, Washer and Dry, Refrigerator, Watches, Gear 360, Gear VR, and a lot of other stuff.....they will lose a valuable customer.

Don't have a Samsung washing machine do you? Because they've been exploding as well.

No more Samsung for me, ever.

You and me both! But Samsung, in their defense, is doing the right thing in as much as they know to do. I argued that I had purchased the Gear 360 as a VR accessory for the Note 7, and they approved the return today. I already shipped back the Gear VR I had purchased ( I actually got a free Gear VR with the 2nd Note 7... anybody want a Gear VR cheap? :p ). So they're trying to make things right.

I'm just very nervous that this has so damaged the Note image that Samsung will discontinue the line. I have no idea what I would fall back on... I love the Note series, and would hate to see it go out like this.

My suspicion seems to be on the right track!

I was so sad to give up the a note 7; the phone was awesome. I went back to my s6 which I fortunately still had. I briefly considered the Edge 7 but I decided to hold out and see if Samsung will put out some nice , non-exploding phones next year. I believe Samsung is doing the right thing to ensure public safety and they have not lost me as a customer.

I'm sure Samsung value having a second flagship that comes out inbetween Galaxy S releases. If they stick with that and retain the s-pen then I doubt we'll worry about the name if they decide that the Note brand is beyond recovery.

In fact they should be relieved that the jokes mostly name the Note 7. Imagine all those memes just saying "Samsung Galaxy"...

My worry is how strong their commitment to the s-pen is? They are no longer pushing it in tablets (the occasional low-end model has a barely publicised version with the pen, but that's it the last 2 years) and they didn't release the Note 5 in the UK (at least not until it was very old news), just the stylusless big S6 variant, because they said the pen wasn't used much here. Now they had changed their minds on that for this year, before plans went up in smoke (sorry!), but I am left worrying that they have not been showing a full-hearted commitment to their most distinctive feature.

I purchased the s7 edge. Phone is going in a case and when the new note 8 comes out I will trade this phone in. Verizon better not give me any crap about it. Bad enough I missed out on all the various promos regarding the note 7. (Color I wanted was on back order when I ordered my phone. Never got my phone. Recall happened. Order cancelled. Reordered again. 2nd recall. Order cancelled. Bought s7 edge right after its promos ended
