S7 Notification Settings

My Galaxy S7 just got the update to Oreo. I find myself having to re-learn the settings and learn "what's new." Before rhe update, I was able to get app icon badges with a numbers without getting a notifications from the pull down status bar. I prefer this method on some of my app notifications. It's apparent that the notification settings have become comprehensive. I don't want to get tons of notifications in the status bar for Facebook or Verizon Messages as an example. I would rather just see a number on rhe app icon. Is there a way to get notification by app icon badges with numbers and not get them in the notification panel in the pull down status bar?

I am having this too. I'm not too pleased with Oreo, as it's messed up all sorts of things on my phone. Battery goes way faster too.

I'm so wirh you! Since the upgrade to Oreo everything is acting up! Plus, everything is so different it's like learning a whole new phone. And don't get me started about battery drain. I don't care what anyone says. If you find any answers or discover anything new, give me a holler.
