s7 vibrating not working for text messages

I just got the s7 and wondering if anyone has had issues with the phone not vibrating for text messages?

I checked the settings > sounds and vibrations, I've checked settings > notifications, checked messages > settings > notifications, and checked to make sure power saving was off and still doesn't work. Do I need to return it or is this a firmware or software issue?

Did you check to see if the vibration intensity is turned up for notifications? You can check under Settings>Sounds and Vibration>Vibration Intensity. Also, did you make sure that your phone is set correctly under the messaging app as well? May want to check if the vibrate toggle is set to on. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I checked the intensity and the messaging app. The other thing I just noticed is when I have my phone on vibrate, the toggle for vibrations shows on, but it's grayed out... Strange..

I have the same exact issue. My S7 does not vibrate on messages but in the app it is turned on but greyed out. Anyone found a solution?

Try to toggle power saving mode to on (make sure immediately option is checked) and then put power savings to off again. This should activate vibration toggle.
If default messages app is in use go to settings > app manager > messages>storage and clear cache

test safe mode to eliminate 3rd party app issues. does it vibrate for a phone call? if yes, the hardware is ok and it's a software/app issue.

For those of you who haven't found a solution yet, I was also having this problem on my S7 and i figured out that there are 3 different sound settings: sound on, vibrate, and mute. Mute will disable vibration and if you look in your messaging notifications vibrate will be on, but grayed out like several people have said here. You can change this setting by going to your home screen and dragging down the drop down menu from the top of your screen. With the drop down menu open, you will see 5 settings icons and the middle one is sound, tap that until it says either sound (if you want beeps and tones and what not) or vibrate (if you just want it to vibrate for notifications). If the sound setting is set to mute you will receive no alerts whatsoever. :)

After several trial and errors, these are the steps that fixed mine.
1.) Settings
2.) Applications
3.) Messages
4.) Under Application settings, click notification
5.) Turn on: Allow Notifications

It haooened to me but its fixed now. If yiu just recently updated your system go to Settings>3 dots on top right corner>have it on standard list. The simplified list messed my phone up.
