S8 battery drain

My battery life on my Verizon S8 has suddenly and drastically worsened. I haven't installed any new apps. I think it's only been going on for a week. My last system update was on 11/15. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Nothing stands out when I look at my battery usage. I'm not sure what could've happened.

Have you noticed any difference in signal strength? Or been doing more travelling than usual? A weaker signal (e g. due to a cell being out) or more hand-overs between cells (travelling) will use power faster. A change in some settings (e.g. location) might also have an effect.

App updates might affect power usage as well, not just installs. This includes Google Play Services, which updates silently without you knowing unless you manually keep an eye on the version number.

TL;DR - there are a lot of possibilities, not all of which involve you changing anything yourself.
