S8 Notifications won't mute

All of a sudden the apps that I have set to mute or silent but vibrate are making sounds. I have checked the settings in the each app and have made sure they are muted in App Manager. Also notification sounds keep repeating for the one email account that I have set with audible notifications and before they didn't. I haven't installed any new apps in the last few days although various ones have updated. Any ideas?

Thanks for the ideas. I had tried restarting it already but hadn't cleared the cache....tried it but still happening. I also noticed that email reminder tones keep repeating when before it was a single notification. However, when they repeat it is the default tone, not the tone assigned to that email account.

I'm not sure about the apps making sound when they shouldn't. Have you tried clearing data for those apps?. The message tone repeating itself though sounds like you've got notification reminder turned on in settings, accessibility.
