Sadly, Samsung is failing internally :(

After all the intense, early public discussion about the storage and battery concerns with this new model, Samsung falls on its face. There's no way preposterous blunders like this can happen and get all the way out into the open unless operations and morale in the company have already plunged over a cliff months ago. And that goes double for trying to find a reason why they wouldn't be offering the Note 5 in Europe.

Or, maybe they are trying to make difficult decisions on actual data. If user studies show that Europeans don't care for the pen, but like the big screen why would they lose money shipping a product into a Geo which will flock to one big screen and ignore the other?

I will admit, I'd love to know what is driving them on micro sd and non replaceable battery...I would suspect their data is showing that those things don't matter as much as smaller footprint when going up against the iphone 6 plus. Micro SD and removable battery have always sounded nice for me, but I never have needed them. Based on my experience I would be foolish making decisions on going for those features unless there was a very new and compelling reason these items are needed right now.

Build for the most demanding users, and everyone from them on down will arguably benefit, big, small, and all along the curve in between. You'll make almost everyone possible happy, and they'll rave praise about their purchase, and spread those positive impressions far and wide. And everyone will have the general impression that if you want a great device, Samsung is the place to head. I believe firmly that's how Samsung gained so much popularity and success with this kind of product before. And then, unfortunately, like so many others, they start to think they can get more picky, and less generous, yet still continue to soar. It's been obvious lately that's not how it works, yet they still haven't shown they've accepted that and returned to the original ethos that works. I hope they wake up though, and demonstrate that they have, soon.

Except the only leading markets for the iPhone are China and the United States and even those numbers cannot be taken at face value.

So what's up in Europe??

The iPhone is not killing Android, no matter how much it outsells any one model. It may be a top model but Android is still about 80% of the market.

HTC committed market suicide by going after the iPhone with the One X.

Samsung is repeating the mistake.

If you want to gain on the iPhone, build a better Android - not a better iPhone.

Here's my review for this year's phones.

It's strictly tongue in cheeks, feel free to disagree - just no one please get their feelings hurt ok.

Here's my phone review.

"Hi, I'm Samsung. I want to be Apple."

"Hi, I'm LG, I want to be Samsung."

"Hi, I'm HTC, please don't yell at me."

"Hi, I'm Sony, I don't want you to understand me."

"Hi, I'm Motorola, I'm an Android."

This made me actually search for a way to try and communicate directly with him, even though I knew that would be nearly impossible. I just don't have the time to put into it, and I know it's mostly a useless goal anyway. Remarks like that are boiler plate propaganda bullshit that many companies and executives throw out even as they know full well that just exactly the opposite is the actual truth. I was still dismayed to see it from this guy, at this point. Because I had let myself start to believe just a bit that Samsung could have been a rare exception that would buck the never ending, never changing corporate trend.
