Help safely removing the razr maxx from computer

hello,

I'm trying to remove my razr maxx safely but it keeps saying its currently in use when there seems to be nothing using it, how did you guys go about safely removing the device?
 
If you haven't actively done anything with the phone for a few minutes, it's -probably- okay to remove it directly.

That said, if all else fails putting your computer into standby should disconnect the phone.

Yeah, there really is very little risk. The only potential harm is if something is being transferred or edited at the very moment you pull the plug it would possibly be corrupted. Unless you interrupt a process like that by pulling the plug (NEVER pull the plug while flashing software), there is absolutely no need to do anything other than pull the plug.
