Root safestrap problem

Bought my razor used. He had safestrap on it but deleted it. However it is still there when powering up.
The problem is it wont let me update. Current os is 4.0.4. Tried reinstalling safestrap but no idea what version he had on it. So reinstalling then trying ti delete didnt work. Am i stuck with this os?

Just google safestrap and install one or more of the many custom roms out there

The only thing that remains is when it starts up it us there for a few seconds. The program is not listed in apps. I take it that i would need to download custom rom to computer then install on phone? I have done that to a rezound but it has been awhile. Not sure I want to go down that road again if there is a way to get the ota.

Fixed my problem. I forgot to root my razr. So followed a tutorial to root it. Once rooted downloaded safestrap, deleted recovery then safestrap. Received ota and it worked. And it unrooted my razr which is what i wanted. So know I am happy.
