Samsung a5 2017 bluetooth

Hello All,

I have just purchased a Samsung a5 2017; Generally very pleased with this phone, but it will not pair with the wifi in my Honda CRV (2014). This is not good news. I don't think it's the wifi in the car as it connects with additional phones.

Anyone else having similar issues and any workarounds available?

Many Thanks.

Apologies. I mean't it won't pair with the bluetooth. Don't know why I mis-typed wifi.

The car is stationary and in accessory mode. Have restarted bluetooth on phone and made device invisible/visible. But no joy.

Is your phone on Nougat?

Unfortunately, this is a huge issue and a bug with Nougat, everything is ok (most likely) with the hardware in your phone and in your car. If you Google it you'll see that people have been struggling with this issue for over a year now, while Nougat began hitting their Nexus devices in 2016. Apparently Nougat cannot handle some (if not all) Low Energy Bluetooth smart devices. I have the exact same problem but with my Polar H10 heart rate monitor which worked perfectly on Android 6.0 and stopped working (pairing) immediately upon the upgrade to 7.0.

The H10 still works with my old LG on Marshmallow so it's not faulty. I have spent countless hours searching online for the solution and by doing so came across many people who complained about not being able to link with their cars' bluetooth systems anymore.

If you are (have been at the time of your post) still on Marshmallow then there's a chance that something is wrong with the hardware after all...

Any news on the A5 Bluetooth problems, specifically for me anyway is authentication required connections as in autos.
