Samsung Bluetooth only- Very Applesque

Just bought my phone, called Samsung and found out that my Jawbone BT device will not work!! They only support Samsung BT devices? I find this hard to believe that they would restrict this?

What they mean is they only support Samsung devices. They will only guarantee their products will work even though lots of others will. All manufactures are the same

I have over 15 bt devices paired with my s3. What they mean when they say they only support samsung bt devices is that they will only *support* samsung devices. It does not mean that the S3 isn't compatible with other bt devices. I'm sure there are otherse using your bt devices just fine with the S3.

i.e. their tech support isn't gonna start answering questions about how to make XYZ competitor's product work with your phone

If you call Microsoft and start asking them questions about your Oracle database they'd probably say the same thing

That analogy is half-correct. It would be like asking Microsoft to support it's Windows BT connectivity.

The issue isn't the BT device itself (especially if it works on another device) but rather the phone's ability to connect to it. You aren't asking them to support Brand X device; you are asking them to support their BT interface. The purpose of BT (and WiFi and Ethernet and dial-up modems for that matter) is interoperability.

With only one BT device to test, it makes it easy to get brushed off. Do other devices not connect (try a friend's maybe)?

Otherwise, search for your particular make/model to see if there is an issue with it and to check which BT standard it is. You can also try that device's tech support.

(Jumping on the pile here: my and my wife's 5-year old Plantronics 975s work fine.)

For all of you that say your headsets are working fine, I have a couple of questions:

Do you receive ALL system sounds over the headset (handset silent)?

Does voice nav play over the headset?

Do custom ringtones play over the headset (handset silent)?

I have a motorola commad one. And, yes to all but custom ringtones. I don't have those. My headset works just fine on my GS3. The only issue I'm having is when I try to voice dial, it asks me if I want to complete using s-voice or motospeak. I have always used motospeak with this headset, but I'm thinking I don't even need it anymore with s-voice.

I use bt with Pioneer car audio, motorola s9 headset, Samsung hs3000 dongle for music, generic bt mouse from bestbuy, logitech bt keyboard,Asus Transformer Pad for file transfer, Asus usb dongle with my pc for music streaming and file transfer to pc all without any problems

OK, I am seriously not getting this. I'm not talking about connectivity, I am talking about pass through of ALL sounds through the headset, including, and especially custom ringtones. In short, when using a BT headset, I do not want the handset to make a sound. What am I missing?

I get all sounds from water ripple to custom ring tones but haven't tried with phone on silent, I'll post back in a bit with results.

I understand what you are saying-my phone does this and it bugs me!!! When BT is turned on, ALL sounds pass through the headset...this sucks. I googled this issue and ended up at this forum.

Sometimes my BT is charging, but still connected to my phone. If I am sending a text, the keys do not "sound" as all sounds are now going through headset.

I want sounds on the phone AND the headset.
