Accessories Samsung branded fast-chargers vs generic brands

I bought a Pictek fast-charger a week ago (single round plate). Does work. But, unlike the "fast-charing Samsung branded plug/USB-C cable" there is no readout on the screen to say it's charging nor on the cover of my Samsung LED case. Why? Does the cheap Samsung branded supplied "fast-charging plug" put out more power?

I know the Samsung Duo Charger will give a readout on the phone screen and likely on a Samsung LED case.

What is it about Samsung branded products that make them work as they should with Samsung phones like my Note 9?
 
what is about apple products that make them work as they should with apple phones ? :p;) that's the way the manufacturer's design them.

There are some good 3rd party products out, like Anker, Choetech for example, that tale extra care to use better components than some other off brand chargers.

for a 900 dollar USD plus phone, don't skimp on electric accessories.

I wasn't aure if one company in China made these products. If Samsung wasn't just inflating their $. Do Samsung branded chargers put out more power? Cleaner power? Like I said... even the supplied fast-charging Samsung plug works better. With my Note9 and samsung LED case.

The question is not what are the Samsung chargers doing, but what is the generic one doing?

Different manufacturers use different fast charging methods, some of which are consistent with some standards and some others. With a random one the questions are standards is it supposed to match and does it actually do.so?
 
the only way to test one brand over another is using tools that show current output, a measurement screen to read spikes.noise in the output, etc etc.

sure there may be one OEM company that will make a samsung spec charger to samsungs specs, and in the same building, on another floor perhaps, there may be the same charger with a cheaper component BOM (list of materials used in making the device) that is aimed at the cheaper market.

i just recommend OEM branded electrical accessories period.

Have you personally used branks like Anker asnd Choetech with your phone? Both brands are available on www.amazon.ca. Choetech chargers are easier to find. Don't know if I should bother trying a Choetech or just spend the $ for a Samsung branded charger...the Pictek convertible is hit/miss. Never get a readout animation...only the status bar.

Update... Checked again with my Pctech 10w charger and found it DOES give me that circular animation really. It just blinks it very fast. Probably just missed it before.
 
Yes I’ve used both of those brands on many other products that are not cell phones. I usually look to them first if i go aftermarket.
 
My conclusion? Buy Samsung branded accessories if it make you feel better and don't mind paying the 60% premium... you still get most of the functionality... minus the battery charge status on the front of the Samsung LED case(I'm using). Thanks guys!

I wonder they what it is in Samsung 's" special method' that makes even their simple and cheap Samsung branded fast-charge plug work better than a 3rd-party disc charger. to have it work best with cases like my Samsung LED case.
 
I've never heard the term "disc charger" before. What is that?

Anyway, different brands use different fast charging standards. Most use QC3.0 or USB PD, QnePlus do their own thing, but Samsung's own "adaptive fast charging" is based upon the older QC2.0. Now that should mean that any QC2, QC3 or PD charger should fast charge it, but the "based on" bit suggests that Samsung have done some tweaking. And maybe those tweaks are the reason your display or accessory don't show as well: that they rely of some deviation from the standard that Samsung have made? Just speculating here, but if they simply used a standard then anyone else's equipment which used the same standard would work equally well.

Umm..-... those dise shaped fast.- chargers? HEH! Shaped like hockey pucks? Like farts?...

Any how I guess it's worth paying Samsung pricing if you want the best compatibility ( e.g. see battery charging LED symbol on samsung LED case cover. If that's not important go 3rd party.

Actually I don't think I've ever seen one in real life: I gather they are a thing in the US, at least in some circles, but don't know anyone who uses it here. And I have to admit that the inherent inefficiency of it displeases me, while the convenience seems minimal, so I've never considered getting one.

I have 3 note 9s and i have 3 of these “discs”. These fast charge wirelessly. I carry these around because they are power banks and are designed to be portable. I even sit the phones on these overnight. :p

I also have the samsung models, although I don’t use them as often.

I even have the 10000 mah zerolemon battery case for these guys that i use when I’m out away from power and don’t want to carry a power bank.

Samsung can name their products whatever they want to. Tesla called the front storage compartment on their cars the “FRUNK”. Lame name in my opinion but that’s what it’s called, so what’s in a name? :eek:

I don't know how popular they are (e.g. the 'round. " type... Samsung calls " pads"- here in Canada or the uS.) I bought one because I don't have a smart watch yet. So I didn't need a " duo". Two device. And it was cheap. Assumed it was the exact same as a Samsung branded version. Looks exactly the same-I will and up biting the bullit and buy a samsung Duo Charger. Boxing Day sales coming- plus) the Samsung chargers have fans. Helps some what I'm. sure.

Stephanie... I wouldn't completely write off ALL3rd party brands. I'm sure there is a brand that will work exactly like a Samsung' Trouble is most of uS don't want to keep buying god party chargers to find the right one. so' I guess it is better to buy Samsung branded accessories.

Anyone own a 42 mm watch and the Wireless Duo Charger ? was told the Duo won't charge the42 um. True?

Also, if you own the Duo ... are u also using the Samsung LEED case? Wondered if you get a charging readout on the cover using the Duo.
