Help Samsung Calendar - Delete All Predictive Text?

AlexKrycek

Lurker
Having recently moved from the S6 to S7, I thought this would have solved the problem , but it has not

When I open the Samsung Calendar app, and I am putting entries in to it, and from somewhere, predictive text is appearing. Say for example I start typing Da....various suggestions with da in the description will appear. However, some entries that I have previously entered which appear - I have put these words incorrectly in - so I am trying to find out how I delete these - take as an example I will have typed in Shefield instead of Sheffield.

I have been in to apps, found the Samsung calendar app, and deleted the cache and data. However, I knew this would not have worked they were and are appearing in my new phone. This was happening on my S6. I have also deleted all the data within the autofill field within Google. This has not worked either.

So, where are these predictive words coming from and how can I delete them once and for all!

Hi Alex,

This looks like the standard Samsung keyboard to me. So, you could try to go to the application manager in the settings, track down the Samsung keyboard (should be under "all"), and delete the cache and data. That should get rid of incorrect "learned" words. Failing that, you can install another keyboard. I like SwiftKey which is now free and quite configurable. It also lets you long press suggestions and delete them one by one.

Regards,
Eric.

Predictive text is a function of the keyboard, not the calendar, so as the previous post says it's a question of how to edit or delete saved predictions, which depends on what keyboard you are using (methods for 2 keyboards given above, so try those, i.e. look in the keyboard app's settings or try a long press on the unwanted prediction).

Hi WillseyRebeeca - I did!

Ok, let me try and explain. If you go in to your calendar and search (top right hand side the hamburger button) for say "Night Out", it will bring up all your events that have that in the title - both before and after the date you do this. So I had around 2 years appts. I then realised that any additional text I had typed, such as Night Out - Friends, Night Out - Work etc, you have to make sure that all the detail is consistent - so I had to go back in to my appts both from that date onwards, and also going backwards.

So, lets say on the Night Out - Friends I had the venue as Sheffield. Then lets say on the Night Out - Work I had Sheffld. I simply went back in to this appt, changed Sheffld to Sheffield - and thats it! Took me around an hr to "align" all my appts etc.

Hope you get this.

Thanks so much for this. I actually started an account here just to log in and say thankyou. This has been driving me nuts for years.

Any idea how do I do this for removing mispelled locations on Samsung S8+ ? I have mispelled words in location (i.e. offce insteae of office, Jersy and Jerey instead of Jersey). I have tried to figure out for last three Samsung phones as i upgrade and data is transferred to each phone. I sync with Outlook on laptop, but the mispelled words are not the predictive locations.
Thanks in advance for any help and your time.
