Sony was the first to introduce a phone with a 4K display, but Samsung is considering doing the same with future smartphones in an attempt to improve the display quality of Gear VR. For now, Samsung believes that the cost of 4k display is still cost prohibitive since consumers are not willing to pay a premium for the increased resolution. Samsung will likely introduce its first 4K smartphone once the prices of the display becomes more reasonable.
