Samsung deleted all my pics, again..

Hi there, I have a samsung galaxy Y which has decided to delete all my photos in the camera folder for the second time! I havent downloaded anything new from app market, and I know for sure I didnt do it by accident.

I have now became very frustrated as the last time it done this confused me, all the pics have gone i cant find them anywhere yet the one i was using as my wallpaper is still there on the wallpaper screen?

My phone had some sort of fit thismorning as decided after me fully charging it it would just cut off, and wouldnt come back on until about ten mins later. I admit I checked I had a signal and facebook etc but didnt check my pics :shot: not my best move yet.

I then took a pic of my son about 5 hour later and on going to view it it was the only image i had in that folder. This cant be a memory card issue as everything else is still there. The first time I lost over 300 pics, this time i only lost about 29 but thankfully most are on facebook. Any idea what the issue is here?

It can be a memory card issue; it's not an all-or-nothing situation with filesystem corruption.

Two suggesttions:
1. fsck/chkdsk/whatever
if that doesn't fix it
2. copy the contents elsewhere and reformat the card. Copy the contents back.
if that doesn't fix it
3. copy the contents to another card.
if that doesn't fix it
4. factory reset the phone or reflash the ROM (depending on what the phone is running)

You can still recover the deleted pics actually.

For the future set up instant upload using Google+ or Dropbox. That way you have a backup of everything and it is passive (you don't have to remember to copy each image).

As others have said, they pictures may be recoverable. Good luck.

Welcome ldavidson88, glad to have you on the forum!

Gregs887 knows whats up, Google+ Instant upload is great, i usually delete all my pictures off my phone as i know they are stored on google+ instant upload.

Google once again making a great feature, and don't worry you are the only one who can view these photos, so if you have an embarrassing photo from the Christmas party last year, then other people wont see it, you will only have to live through the embarrassment!
